Safe Motorcycle Riding in Summer
Summer months are the most enjoyable season for motorcycle riders. However, hot weather brings its own challenges: extreme heat, risk of dehydration, and sunburn. Here are our recommendations for safe and comfortable riding in summer:
1. Choose Breathable Gear
In hot weather, opt for ventilated helmets and breathable, mesh jackets. This gear regulates body temperature and reduces sweating. Summer half-finger gloves also provide coolness.
2. Sun Protection
Helmets with sun visors or double-paned visors protect your eyes from sunlight. Don't forget to apply sunscreen to exposed areas.
3. Stay Hydrated
The body rapidly loses water in the heat. Take regular breaks during long rides and drink plenty of water. Dehydration negatively affects concentration and reflexes.
4. Tires and Asphalt
Hot asphalt increases tire pressure. Check tire pressure regularly. Also, asphalt that melts in extreme heat can become slippery, so be careful.
5. Motorcycle Maintenance
Hot weather can cause the engine to overheat. Check the cooling system and radiator. On water-cooled motorcycles, radiator guards protect the radiator from stone damage.
